Lovlina, Manish conferred with Arjuna Award as boxing receives 5 National Sports Awards

It has been a moment of pride for the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) with the discipline of boxing being conferred with 5 awards at the National Sports Awards 2020. Two-time World Championships bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain and 2019 World Championships bronze medallist Manish Kaushik are among the 27 sportspersons selected for the Arjuna Award this year.

2008 Asian Boxing gold medalist and two-time World Championships silver medallist Usha Nagisetty has been bestowed the Dhyanchand Award for her immense contribution to the sport. Also receiving the Dhyanchand award for lifetime achievement is five-time national champion and 1994 Asian Games bronze medallist Lakha Singh.

Former Chief Coach of Indian Boxing Team, Shiv Singh has been honoured with the prestigious Dronacharya award for his outstanding dedication to coaching for 37 years.

Congratulating all the winners, the BFI President Ajay Singh urged boxers to work harder and set their eyes on Olympic medals.

“On behalf of India’s boxing family, I congratulate you Lovlina Borgohain and Manish Kaushik for your well deserved Arjuna Awards. May you work even harder for the glory of your sport and your country. Bring home those Olympic medals,” said the BFI President.
