MOHAMMED ETASH KHAN

The southpaw comes from interiors of Thoubal district in Manipur. Etash Khan came into the spotlight after he got selected for the World Youth Championships in 2016. His elder brother, Ibrahim has also been a former sub-junior champion and has been an inspiration for young Etash to get hooked to the sport.

Coming from a humble background with five siblings, the journey has never been easy but the boxer from North East has scaled great heights in very little time. He had to take a bus as early as 4 am only to come all the way from his village to Imphal, where he trained in a local academy and then used to head back home to attend school. Later in the day, he used to help his father in the field.

This farmer boy’s forte is an aggressive counterattack coupled with great reflexes and loves to throw quick punches. Fondly called “Bhaijaan” by his teammates, this agile and gifted boxer was scouted by the Army Sports Institute (ASI) scouts during a national camp in 2015.
Since then, the pugilist’s career graph has been on the rise.
