Fitness training for elite boxers in full flow as camp continues
With restrictions being gradually lifted after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian boxing training camp got off to a resounding start in the last week of July at the National Institute of Sports (NIS) Patiala. The camp began with 9 male boxers and 5 female boxers following all necessary precautions as India looks to clinch the remaining four Olympic quotas next year.
While peak training is yet to begin, the boxers led by World Championships silver medallist Amit Panghal have arrived with good spirit, oodles of motivation and a positive frame of mind. The initial few weeks have been dedicated to fitness training and getting the boxers back into shape with intensity to pick up and more boxers to be added as the days progress.
