India secured three gold and a bronze in the last event of 2019 – the Asian Grand Slam Xiamen – to end a year that was memorable in every possible way. South Asian Games winner Sparsh Kumar (52kg) became the first Indian men’s boxer to win gold at this event.
He was joined by Krishan Sharma (+91kg) who also grabbed the yellow metal along with Pooja (75kg) from the women. Parveen (60kg) contributed a bronze to India’s tally.
