2014 CWG silver medalist and seasoned boxer Mandeep Jangra is coached by 2006 CWG Gold Medalist, Akhil Kumar. He has featured for the defunct Indian outfit in 2011 and 2012 in the past. 2013 Asian Amateur Boxing Championship Silver medalist and Arjuna Awardee, this 23-year-old boxer from Haryana is surely someone the Chinese will be careful about.

Nick named “Kartoos” by his coach and mentor Akhil Kumar, Mandeep had an injury layoff after suffering a hairline fracture in his wrist which he aggravated by competing in tournaments. After a surgery and a long recovery process, he returned to the ring to take the bronze at the India Open and a gold medal at the Ulaanbaatar Cup.
