ASHISH KULHARI (69kg)

Ashish Kulhari, who belongs to a lower middle-class family, started boxing from January 2010 in UBA Club where Rajesh Sheoran was the coach who helped him learn the basics. His neighbour, Jai Bhagwan was an Olympian and an Arjuna awardee, who inspired him to pursue this sport.

He made a dazzling debut at the Nationals in 2012 to be crowned the champion at the sub-junior level in 63kg. In 2013, he was on his first international training tour in Cyprus and rode on that to make it to the quarters at the World Championships. After a gold at the Youth Nationals and a silver at the Youth Asian Championships he won the gold in Asian Games Test event before taking a bronze at the prestigious Asian Championships in 2019.
