Already a five-time national champion, Nupur has recently dominated the +80kg division at the 8th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championships a weight category where India has traditionally struggled to produce consistent winners. Boxing runs deep in her bloodline. Her father, Sanjay Kumar, is a former national champion and coach, while her grandfather is none other than Captain Hawa Singh, a two-time Asian Games gold medallist and one of India’s most celebrated boxing legends. Her journey has been one of quiet determination from winning gold at the All India Inter-University Tournament in 2018, to gaining valuable international exposure at the Strandja Cup in 2019.
