Honoured to be recognized with the prestigious Arjuna Award: Lovlina Borgohain
Lovlina Borgohain has left no doubt that she is one of India’s best talents to have emerged in the last few years. One of the hardest workers among Indian boxers, the Assam girl has stood out with her diligence and determination ever since her foray into the sport.
The 22-year-old has found success at some of the most prestigious tournaments with her two bronze medals from the World Championships being the jewel in the crown. With medals from the Asian Championships, the India Open and the President’s Cup among others, Borgohain has undoubtedly been one of Indian boxing’s most consistent performers and hence a deserving recipient of the Arjuna Award.
Having bagged a quota at next year’s Olympics, the Assam girl will now be aiming to bring home a prestigious medal from the mega quadrennial Games.
Borgohain called it an honour after receiving the Arjuna Award and thanked the BFI, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the support.
“It is an honour to be recognized with the prestigious Arjuna Award. I would like to thank the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), all my coaches, teammates, family and friends who have supported me along this journey,” said Borgohain.
