The 22-year-old has found success at some of the most prestigious tournaments with her two bronze medals from the World Championships being the jewel in the crown. With medals from the Asian Championships, the India Open and the President’s Cup among others, Borgohain has undoubtedly been one of Indian boxing’s most consistent performers and hence a deserving recipient of the Arjuna Award.

Having bagged a quota at next year’s Olympics, the Assam girl will now be aiming to bring home a prestigious medal from the mega quadrennial Games.

Borgohain called it an honour after receiving the Arjuna Award and thanked the BFI, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for the support.
