India had a brilliant campaign at the Olympic Test Event for Boxing held in Tokyo with gold medals from Pooja Rani (75 kg) and Shiva Thapa (63 kg) while Ashish (69 kg) settled for silver. Besides them, Nikhat Zareen (51 kg), Simranjit Kaur (60 kg), Sumit Sangwan (91 kg) and Vahlimpuia (75 kg), in the men’s draw, bagged bronze medals.
It helped the Indian contingent get a taste of what was to expect in Tokyo during the mega quadrennial event and be ready for the challenges.
