Amit Panghal gets top billing at Tokyo

World Championships silver medallist Amit Panghal (52kg) has received the top seeding as the draw for the Asian/Oceanian Olympic Qualifiers scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan from March 3-11, was announced on Monday.

Panghal’s consistency and exceptional form helped him secure the top billing as he hopes to fulfill his Olympic dream. He won the Asian Games gold in 2018 and carried that momentum into the other elite competitions to bag the gold at the Asian Championships and a silver medal at the World Championships. By dint of his performances, he also rose to the pinnacle in International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Boxing Task Force rankings.

While Panghal is the top seed in his category, Satish Kumar has been seeded fourth in +91kg.
