NARENDER

Born to a family of farmers, Narender hails from Sorkhi village in Hisar district of Haryana. As a child, his talent and passion for boxing were soon discovered by veteran coach Devraj Sihag under whose tutelage he took his first babysteps in the sport. His perseverance and his hunger to improve made him pick up the skills quickly and soon he started shining in various international competitions from a young age. A Youth World Cup silver and a Youth Asian Championship bronze testify to this.

Boxing remained his companion even after he joined the Indian Army in 2013 and he refused to part with it. Under the watchful eyes of Subedar Major Narendra Rana at the Army Sports Institute Pune, Narender has been flourishing further in his career and has now added the prestigious Senior Nationals gold as well as a gold from the South Asian Games in what was a stellar 2019 season for him.
