Indian Elite Women Boxing Team participated in AIBA World Women Boxing Championship 2019 at “Ulan-Udei” Russia from 03rd to 14th October 2019

Manju Rani (48kg) made a fabulous debut to take the silver at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2019 as India collected four medals that also included three bronze in what was India’s best-ever overseas show. Manju’s performance paved the way for her to jump to No. 2 in the AIBA world rankings released in July, 2020.

The legendary Mary Kom (51kg) got an unprecedented eighth medal that made her the only boxer, male or female, to win eight medals from the Amateur World Championships.

Jamuna Boro was another of the debutantes to shine as she took the bronze in 54kg while Lovlina Borgohain added a second consecutive bronze in 69kg. The tournament not only demonstrated the fearlessness of Indian boxers but also showed how much the next generation is gearing up to follow in the footsteps of the established legends.
